A holiday dinner menu to share with your community while learning about other people’s traditions and cultures.
Our Family Dinner Book Club theme for the year is Social-Emotional Learning! This month we’re learning about diverse holidays and celebrations with Red and Green and Blue and White by Lee Wind. To accompany this themed dinner menu, Growing Book by Book has a reading list of additional books as well as conversation starters, and Sunny Day Family shares a selection of crafts.
Red and Green and Blue and White is a story about community coming together after a local family faced cruel and uncalled for hatred just for being a little bit different. This is such an important topic to discuss with children and it can be done easily and in ways kids can understand. This book specifically notes the winter holidays Christmas and Hanukkah, but I urge you to explore the myriad holidays and celebrations that occur during this time of year.
Our menu this month features some Christmas and Hanukkah foods and some food crafts that can be made and shared with your community.
