Wizard of Oz dinner menu

A family dinner menu taken from 1900s Kansas to accompany the children’s book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.

This year, our Family Dinner Book Club theme is Books and Movies Through the Ages. We’re kicking things off this month in the 1900s with Dorothy and friends in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Growing Book By Book has a booklist and conversation starters for you. Sunny Day Family created a fun family game just for the occasion!

Throughout the book and film, Dorothy is trying to find her way home. She meets many new friends, and has many adventures on her quest to find home. Our dinner menu is made up of foods that remind Dorothy of home, with some of the magic of Oz thrown in.

Dorothy hails from Kansas in 1900, and so do these recipes. Dorothy has to follow the yellow brick road to reach the Emerald City, and our diners also have to follow the yellow brick road of corn to reach the Emerald City made of candy!

  1. I love this. Wonderful. This all looks delicious and lovely! If we do this it would be a good chance to pop a couple porcelain figures on the table as well since the kingdom of porcelain was the most memorable part of the book to both my son and I.
