A colorful dinner menu inspired by the children’s book We’re All Wonders by R.J. Palacio.
This month’s theme for Family Dinner Book Club is Kindness, and our lead book is We’re All Wonders by R.J. Palacio. Here you’ll find a menu that can be prepared with the help of your children. Head over to Growing Book by Book for a full reading list of books about Kindness. Then visit Sunny Day Family for family activity ideas. We invite you to share a picture from your dinner with us anytime during the month on our Family Dinner Book Club Facebook or Instagram page!
“Billions of people.
People of all different colors. People who walk and talk differently. People who look different. Like me!
The Earth is big enough for all kinds of people.”
This quote is accompanied by some very colorful and cool pictures in the book and it is what inspired this month’s menu. I couldn’t get the colorful galaxy image out of my head and the idea that there are so many differences in our world. Differences that can be beautiful and should be celebrated. This menu started out as what I like to call a “snack dinner” where I just put out tons of odds and ends and everyone gets to choose their own adventure. I ended up with something a little more cohesive, but I still wanted everything set out on circular dishes to represent the planets in the galaxy.
