This month’s theme for Family Dinner Book Club is Love, and our lead book is Love by Matt de la Peña. Here you’ll find a menu that can be prepared with the help of your children, as well as festive table decorations. Head over to Growing Book by Book for a full reading list of books about fairness. Then visit Sunny Day Family for family activity ideas. We invite you to share a picture from your dinner with us anytime during the month on our Family Dinner Book Club Facebook or Instagram page!
Love by Matt de la Peña is a tear jerker! It is such a sweet book that simply and beautifully illustrates love in many forms. My favorite line, of course, “A slice of burnt toast that tastes like love.” I really enjoyed this book and will be reading it to my kids often.
I made heart-shaped soft pretzels for Abby’s class Valentine’s Day celebration, and I immediately knew those would be part of this menu. What goes better with soft pretzels than cheese? Nothing! So here we are with a classic cheese fondue and all the dipping foods. I think chocolate covered strawberries for sure taste like love… Henry and I ate the whole batch in one sitting!
