This tablescape is inspired by the book Nevertheless, She Persisted by Chelsea Clinton. Persistence is our character trait for the month of February for Family Dinner Book Club. Check out the full dinner menu, too.

I really loved this book and I wanted to play up the girl power factor for this tablescape. I try to remain gender neutral in choosing colors and themes for celebrations. Something I constantly tell my kids is, “colors are for everybody!” or “there’s no such thing as boy things and girl things. Anyone can do anything.”

I seriously had to think for a long time about whether or not to go with the pink-in-your-face theme here. I decided to go for it, because we love pink in this house, and this celebration takes place during Valentine’s month so it all felt fitting. You can make your own confetti table runner out of any colors you love!

The coloring page (free printable) is really my favorite part of this tablescape, though. I wanted to create something that would give kids inspiration about various skills they might be interested, while also leaving space for them to leave their own ideas.

My sister drew all the images you see in the coloring page! I had searched around for free or affordable clipart, and then sketched my own, but I just didn’t love any of it. So at the eleventh hour I asked my sister if she would be able to make me some sketches, and I am so happy I asked for her help! Click on the photo to print the coloring page – totally free!
