Our Family Dinner Book Club selection for the month of November is The Family Under The Bridge by Natalie Savage Carlson. Here you’ll find a menu that can be prepared with the help of your children, and will hopefully be a fun and interactive activity for the whole family. Head over to Growing Book by Book for some talking points to get the conversation started as well as an idea for a family service project. Then visit Sunny Day Family for a fun craft. We invite you to share a picture from your dinner with us anytime during the month on our Family Dinner Book Club Facebook page.

The Family Under the Bridge is a great book about family, friendship, and the Christmas Spirit in Paris, France! This book is full of food and imagery that transports you directly to Paris during Christmastime. Of course I’m serving a Parisian-inspired Christmas dinner today. Coq a Vin is a classic French dish – not necessarily served at Christmas dinner, but it seriously scream France. It is savory, comforting, decadent, and you make it with Burgundy wine, which is where the gypsies go when they have to leave Paris. Serve shiny red apples and fresh oranges with your dinner because that is what Armand is used to receiving during the holiday season. Your cheese board can be made up of anything your family loves. I included some of my favorites here, but you can go more kid friendly if you need to.
