Our Family Dinner Book Club selection for the month of December is Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. Here you’ll find a menu that can be prepared with the help of your children, and will hopefully be a fun and interactive activity for the whole family. Head over to Growing Book by Book for some talking points to get the conversation started as well as an idea for a family service project. Then visit Sunny Day Family for a fun craft. We invite you to share a picture from your dinner with us anytime during the month on our Family Dinner Book Club Facebook page.
Snowflake Bentley is a children’s book written about Wilson Bentley, who was one of the first photographer to capture a snowflake! He worked long and hard to perfect his process, and this was during a time when we didn’t have all the highly technological tools we have today. Mr. Bentley obviously lived in a snowy climate where he was able to work all winter long on this passion project.
He probably needed something warm and comforting to come home to, so that is our dinner today: warm and comforting. We have a table full of soups and toppings to go with them, as well as hot cocoa! Enjoy!
